CHILD DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Since 2022, Manengkel Solidaritas has implemented the Child Development Program to support the prevention of child malnutrition and stunting while improving the overall health and well-being of children and families. The program combines nutrition, sanitation, education, food security, and community participation to address the multiple factors that influence healthy child growth and development.

The main components of the program include:

  1. Nutrition Support for Young Children
Providing nutritious food and supporting adequate intake of essential macro- and micronutrients to promote healthy growth and development among infants and toddlers.

  2. Support for Children at Risk of Stunting
Providing targeted nutrition assistance, monitoring, and community-based interventions for children who are at risk of or experiencing growth challenges.

  3. Improving Family Sanitation and Hygiene
Promoting clean and healthy household practices to reduce the risk of infections and illnesses that can negatively affect children's nutritional status and development.

  4. Waste Management and Environmental Cleanliness
Supporting community clean-up activities and improved waste management to create healthier living environments and reduce health risks for children and families.

  5. Early Childhood Education and Teacher Capacity Building
Strengthening Early Childhood Education (PAUD) through training for teachers and caregivers to improve their knowledge and skills in child development, nutrition, hygiene, and healthy learning environments.

  6. School Nutrition Education
Providing nutrition education for school-age children to increase understanding of balanced diets, healthy eating habits, hygiene, and healthy lifestyles.

  7. Household and Community Food Security
Supporting vegetable gardens and other local food production initiatives to improve access to fresh and nutritious food while strengthening household food security.

  8. Community Education and Engagement
Conducting workshops, meetings, awareness campaigns, and community discussions involving parents, community leaders, schools, and other local stakeholders to strengthen collective action for child health and development.

  9. Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration
The program is implemented in cooperation with local governments, communities, schools, health stakeholders, and private-sector partners. In North Minahasa, for example, several child nutrition and stunting-prevention initiatives have been supported through collaboration between Manengkel Solidaritas and PT Tirta Investama (AQUA) as part of corporate social responsibility efforts.

Through this integrated approach, the Child Development Program aims to create healthier children, stronger families, cleaner environments, and more resilient communities, ensuring that children have better opportunities to grow, learn, and reach their full potential.
